For the past month or more, members and friends of the GrowTogether Garden here in Heber/Overgaard have combined their talents, time, and energies to get our community garden started.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you should drive by the Heber-Overgaard High School and toward the bus barn area and nestled in the back you will see 36 beautiful redwood grow beds, filled with dirt, and ready to be turned into living soil and luscious plants. It is a sight to behold and now we wait for the weather to warm up just a bit more so those first little seeds will sprout.
We will also be adding two more U-shaped beds in the middle of the garden that are dedicated to the high school students and to community food banks. There will also be a gathering spot in the very center for learning, sharing, and to just hang out and enjoy the garden.
There are so many people that have led this effort and Heber-Overgaard is blessed with so many wonderful, hard-working, dedicated folks to turn this community garden dream into a reality. Tell your friend and neighbors and come join the fun. We’ve already rented all but one of the beds, but we’d love to get to know more neighbors and like-minded gardeners!
