Beat the Bugs & Learn About Fungus Control
Date: Saturday, July 12, 2025
Time: 2:00-3:30 pm
Location: Heber-Overgaard Fire Station, 2061 Lumber Valley, Rd., Overgaard, Az. 85933
The monsoon weather increases the potential for garden pests and fungi.
- Master Gardeners Bonnie Leedy, David Kincaid, and Katy Neild walk you through Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies for garden pest management for our Arizona vegetable gardens.
- They will talk about balancing the ecosystem that is your garden, so good bugs thrive, and you create unfavorable conditions for those pests that would stop you from having an abundant harvest.
- What about funguses? What are they, and what strategies avoid their formation? If you get a fungal disease in your garden, what are the organic methods to control it?
About the Speaker: Bonnie Leedy recently became a High Country Master Gardener and is happy to share what she’s learned with others. After discovering Permaculture, “PermaDave” Kincaid, CEO of Northern Arizona Permaculture, in his quest for sustainable off-grid living techniques, has since completed 3 Permaculture Design Certification Courses and his life is forever changed and charged with a passion to learn and share the knowledge and wisdom of the Ethics and Design Principles of Permaculture throughout the world. Katy Neild grew up gardening, harvesting, and preserving with her grandmother in Northern New York. Most of her gardening experience has been in New York and Pennsylvania, but she loves the challenge and incredible community of gardeners in Heber-Overgaard.
