About the Speakers: Katy Neild grew up gardening, harvesting, and preserving with her grandmother in Northern New York. Most of her gardening experience has been in New York and Pennsylvania, and she loves the challenge of learning to garden (more or less) successfully in Heber-Overgaard. She recently became an Arizona Certified Master Gardener for High Elevations. She enjoys sharing her garden and skills with others.
Kayla McKernan has been a Mogollon Rim native for over 35 years. Since childhood, she’s had a profound love for our forest and lakes, thanks to grandparents who have been here since the 1960’s. Her life is about gardening and providing a natural life for her family; however, her passion is outdoor adventure and turning those experiences into useful products for daily life. Through the years, she has gained knowledge about a wide variety of flowering plants, trees, vegetables, and especially native plants. She and Josh own Rim Roots Nursery and are a great resource for local gardeners.
