Good Bugs, Bad Bugs & What To Do About Them

A practical class on preventing and managing garden pests and diseases naturally.

June 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

When: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Time: 2:00-3:30 pm
Where: Heber-Overgaard Fire Station

You’ll learn:

Not all bugs are bad, and not every plant problem needs fixing—this class will show you how to tell the difference. You’ll learn organic treatment options, along with practical tips for preventing, spotting, and reducing common garden diseases. Join us!

  • Build a garden that works with nature, not against it—learn how to encourage helpful bugs and create conditions that pests don’t love, even with our short seasons and big temperature swings.
  • Figure out who’s who in your garden (friend or foe!) and learn when to relax, when to act, and how to handle problems using organic, garden-safe solutions.
  • Tackle common high-country disease issues like fungal problems caused by cool nights, irrigation, and surprise weather, plus what to do naturally if they show up anyway.

Meet Our Speakers: Bonnie and Tim Leedy are Master Gardeners with Navajo County who have been gardening in our high-country community for the past five years. Passionate about learning and sharing practical, real-world skills, they focus on everything that supports a tiny homestead—from growing and preserving food to raising chickens and keeping bees—always with an emphasis on working with nature and learning what truly works in our unique climate.
