Meet our Team

Bonnie Leedy is an Arizona Certified Master Gardener and has been growing here in Heber-Overgaard for six years. She loves the rewards of growing from seed, preserving her produce, and every step in between. She loves becoming more self-reliant, creating a sustainable lifestyle, all while living and working in our beautiful high-country paradise.

John Piva is a busy, contributing member of our community and engaged in many organizations, including HOCRN (Heber-Overgaard Community Resource Network). The community garden is under the umbrella of the HOCRN 501(3)c and John is the liaison with the garden. He is also an enthusiastic gardener and so much more.

Tim didn’t start gardening until he moved up to the high country, but he has since jumped in with a vengeance. He learned all he knows from all the classes he has taken here at the community garden. He loves being self-reliant and enjoying the bounty of the harvest all year long. He recently became a Master Gardener!

He also enjoy helping and serving others in our community and that includes helping us keeping the garden functioning and when fellow gardeners have a need.

Marie Wilkes serves as our main admin for the Leadership Committee and serves on the Education Committee. She is also the Rim Community Library Manager. She loves to grow things but hasn’t had much opportunity to do so in recent years, so she’s excited to join and contribute to the Heber Overgaard Community Garden in any capacity.

Marie enjoys being outdoors, loves reading (duh!), and singing. She is a full time resident of Overgaard.

Sandie is a new gardener with a big heart for small-space growing. After moving to Heber-Overgaard full-time, she’s been loving the chance to focus on becoming more self-reliant—whether that’s through the garden or building up a more natural pantry. You’ll usually find her working alongside her husband, Mike; together, they grow and sell microgreens for our local community. For Sandie, it’s all about keeping things local, natural, and fresh!
